I haven't read any of the Malazan Books yet, but they are what I am working towards. Everything I hear about them makes them sound incredibly epic, and requiring hard work to get through, so I am slowly working my way through fantasy series until I can reach the point where I will be able to get the most out of them.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading Deadhouse Gates after finishing GotM. I'm intrigued by the level of detail of worldbuilding Steven Erikson and Ian Esslemont have put into this epic. As of right now, GotM is my favorite book but I look forward to reading the others.
ReplyDeleteYet another series I am dying to read! When I am done with the huge series I am reading now (WoT) I am all over this one! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMBotF is hands down my favourite fantasy series in existence. It's ridiculously difficult to pick a favourite because it changes with each re-read! In the past I would have said either Deadhouse Gates, Memories of Ice or Midnight Tides . . . but I recently finished Bonehunters as part of my latest re-read, and it was so much more stunning than I remember that I'm going with that one. (Kalam FTW!) :D
ReplyDeleteYou're a winner of one of the copies of Dancer's Lament! Please shoot me an email at ericfomley@gmail.com of your name and mailing address so that I can send it over to Tor for fulfillment. Thanks and congrats!
DeleteMalazan is my favourite ever fantasy series, from start to finish it is one of the best ever and has all you could ask for in a book/series, such a journey!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go with Gardens of the Moon for my favourite book purely as it's the first book in the series and started me on the epic journey that is Malazan.

I started to read this serie one year ago and as far as i can tell these are the most awesome books i've ever read, i am currently reading The Bonehunters and so far my favourite is Deadhouse Gates, for Mappo and Icarium who are such great characters, and especially for Coltaine!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to choose a favorite, but Memories of Ice is definitely up there for the war against the Pannion Domin.
ReplyDeleteI'm on Reaper's Gale now and I'm pretty sure my favorite changes with everyone I read. Ever since Anomanders battle with the imperial demon I've been dying to just skip the rest of the series and start on Forge of darkness, lol. No seriously he has definitely become my favorite character and I'm kinda sad he hasn't gotten much face time since then. So I'm gonna go with Gardens of the Moon.
ReplyDeleteEvery book of the 10 book series, culminating in 'I see you brother' .. *hair raising*
ReplyDeleteProbably The Bridgeburners with MoI closely behind it. Pannion Domin campaign is epic and if I had to pick something to see on the big screen it would be probably this. But TB had more Fiddler, no annoying Silverfox and Mhybe, more Trull and Icarium. Malaz sequence broke my heart when Tavore's forces were forced to go rogue and Wickans were considered traitors while betrayers Korbolo and Mallick rose to their positions. And of course there is the second most epic moment in the series - Y'ghatan! That was insane! And it changed how I look at old honey ever since :D
ReplyDeleteI've only read the first three books in Erikson's series, but but I guess the second book so far. Primarily because of the serious Dune vibe I got from the Holy Desert Raraku.
ReplyDeleteI have not been familiar with this series until recently I saw this book at my local book store and fell in love with the cover and upon reading the back synopsis I was immediately hooked :)
ReplyDeleteI've read Garden of the Moon and loved it. I've heard they improve vastly from book to book as the author honed his craft, but I enjoyed the first one so much I went and bought the next 3 on a whim. I love the first one for that "grab me by the collar and drag me in for the long haul" feeling it gave me.
