The Friday 5: Books I Want Made into Movies/TV Series

Welcome to The Friday 5, a weekly top 5 about fantasy and science fiction here on Deviant Worlds. This week I'd like to present you with my Top 5 Books I Want Made into Movies/TV series. Check it out and let me know your top 5 in the comments below!
5. The Black Company by Glen Cook (Television Series)

I feel like the characters really drive the Black Company novels more than any other element. The dynamic between this ruthless band of mercenaries could make a really interesting television series. Alongside the good characters, the series is quite lengthy and with some added material each book could be a season for a television show, though I would probably encourage the writers to create some extra materials as well. It would just be fun to see the Company on screen. And if the dynamic was achieved, it wouldn't really matter what their contract was.

4. The Riyria Revelations by Michael J. Sullivan (Movies)

The Riyria Revelations is a lot more of high fantasy, though Hadrian and Royce do get in some tough situations and the series does have it's cringe worthy moments. I think the story line would be best fit for a six movie run though. All the plots are interconnected but each is it's own tale with a solid starting and stopping point. The only way this could succeed though is if they were able to capture the very distinct personalities of Hadrian and Royce. Most people who read the series fall in love with these two and an on-screen just wouldn't work unless they got the personalities just right.

3. The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss (Television Series)

The story of Kvothe is at times a very emotional tale and was able to draw me in very quickly and very deeply. I think the quality of the Kingkiller Chronicles is strong enough that it could do well as a television series. It has a huge fan base and many of the plot elements lend themselves to a more drawn out form of on-screen performance. It helps that there is a lot of content to each book and even though the third has not yet been released, there is enough there for at least a few seasons.

2. Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne by Brian Staveley (Movies)

I think with the multiple POV characters, three varying locales and plots intertwining with one another that the Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne would make a great movie series. There's a compelling story here to tell and great characters to lead it. I think bringing this particular series to the big screen could be really cool.

1. The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson (Television Series)

It would be so epic and so great if it were a television series but it would have to be done so right or it wouldn't work at all. It would definitely be the darkest show on TV. But if The Malazan Book of the Fallen could make it onto TV, I think it would be a very long and successful series. The key of course would be to do things right. There's just so much material to work with in each novel that they could make it a full fledged season per book. The problem here would be that I'm sure this would be more expensive to make than Game of Thrones. But it would be oh so good!

So there's my top 5, what's yours?
