Giveaway: Two Copies of Dancer's Lament by Ian C. Esslemont!

The generous publicity team over at Tor Books have offered me two copies of Dancer's Lament to giveaway! If you haven't heard or read my review of Dancer's Lament, it's the first in a prequel trilogy set in the popular Steven Erikson/Ian C. Esslemont Malazan universe prior to the events of The Malazan Book of the Fallen and the founding of the Malazan Empire. Dancer's Lament is not only a good backstory of Dancer and Kellanved for fans of the series, but also a great place for new readers to start too!

So how can you enter to win a copy?

1. If you're already a fan of the Malazan series, simply comment on this post or the associated reddit post with what your favorite book in the series is and why.

2. If you've not read any of the Malazan books, simply comment on this post or the associated reddit post with what's got you interested in the series and why.

3. The giveaway will be open until Friday, May 27th at 11:59PM.

4. On Saturday, May 28th, I will select two winners by inputting names into a randomizer.

5. I will reply to the comment (or PM on reddit) of the two selected winners with instructions to send me the mailing address they would like the copy sent to. I will then forward this info to Tor for fulfillment.

You do not need to follow the Deviant Worlds blog to be eligible for this contest. Though you are more than welcome to join the community. Good luck on the giveaway, and don't forget to share!

  1. I haven't read any of the Malazan Books yet, but they are what I am working towards. Everything I hear about them makes them sound incredibly epic, and requiring hard work to get through, so I am slowly working my way through fantasy series until I can reach the point where I will be able to get the most out of them.

  2. I'm currently reading Deadhouse Gates after finishing GotM. I'm intrigued by the level of detail of worldbuilding Steven Erikson and Ian Esslemont have put into this epic. As of right now, GotM is my favorite book but I look forward to reading the others.

  3. Yet another series I am dying to read! When I am done with the huge series I am reading now (WoT) I am all over this one! Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. MBotF is hands down my favourite fantasy series in existence. It's ridiculously difficult to pick a favourite because it changes with each re-read! In the past I would have said either Deadhouse Gates, Memories of Ice or Midnight Tides . . . but I recently finished Bonehunters as part of my latest re-read, and it was so much more stunning than I remember that I'm going with that one. (Kalam FTW!) :D

  5. Malazan is my favourite ever fantasy series, from start to finish it is one of the best ever and has all you could ask for in a book/series, such a journey!

I'm going to go with Gardens of the Moon for my favourite book purely as it's the first book in the series and started me on the epic journey that is Malazan.

  7. I started to read this serie one year ago and as far as i can tell these are the most awesome books i've ever read, i am currently reading The Bonehunters and so far my favourite is Deadhouse Gates, for Mappo and Icarium who are such great characters, and especially for Coltaine!

  8. It's hard to choose a favorite, but Memories of Ice is definitely up there for the war against the Pannion Domin.

  9. I'm on Reaper's Gale now and I'm pretty sure my favorite changes with everyone I read. Ever since Anomanders battle with the imperial demon I've been dying to just skip the rest of the series and start on Forge of darkness, lol. No seriously he has definitely become my favorite character and I'm kinda sad he hasn't gotten much face time since then. So I'm gonna go with Gardens of the Moon.

  10. Every book of the 10 book series, culminating in 'I see you brother' .. *hair raising*

  11. Probably The Bridgeburners with MoI closely behind it. Pannion Domin campaign is epic and if I had to pick something to see on the big screen it would be probably this. But TB had more Fiddler, no annoying Silverfox and Mhybe, more Trull and Icarium. Malaz sequence broke my heart when Tavore's forces were forced to go rogue and Wickans were considered traitors while betrayers Korbolo and Mallick rose to their positions. And of course there is the second most epic moment in the series - Y'ghatan! That was insane! And it changed how I look at old honey ever since :D

  12. I've only read the first three books in Erikson's series, but but I guess the second book so far. Primarily because of the serious Dune vibe I got from the Holy Desert Raraku.

  13. I have not been familiar with this series until recently I saw this book at my local book store and fell in love with the cover and upon reading the back synopsis I was immediately hooked :)

  14. I've read Garden of the Moon and loved it. I've heard they improve vastly from book to book as the author honed his craft, but I enjoyed the first one so much I went and bought the next 3 on a whim. I love the first one for that "grab me by the collar and drag me in for the long haul" feeling it gave me.
